What a year it's been. As we write this final update for 2020, we have been teaching online for nine months! The restrictions may have closed our physical studio, but it opened our online 'doors' to young writers far and wide. Our team has been able to continue working while being close to their loved ones at home, interstate and overseas. We've discovered new ways to support more young writers, their families, teachers, and each other so that when we return to in-person teaching we can incorporate the best of both the online and offline worlds into our programs. 2020 has taught us that we are our creative space. Together and apart, online and offline. Imagination, stories, and words not only entertain us when we need that lightness; they help us process and express our emotions; they give power to our voices; they set us free. Read our updated Mission & Philosophy Now that restrictions have eased, what's next for Creative Write-it? Here's what you can look forward to in 2021! A New Space From Term 1, we will resume face-to-face workshops at our new home, the Greythorn Community Hub. Studio 4 is as light-filled and bright as our former studio, and we can't wait to welcome you there! After School Programs Story Writing Clubs and Writing Mentorships will continue to be available throughout the week (Monday - Thursday afternoons, and all day Saturdays), face-to-face and online. Specify your preference when you book, and we'll do our best to make sure everyone is able to join us! Creative Holiday Programs This summer, we're offering online Mini Mentorships to give every young writer the opportunity to work with us one-to-one, to reignite their creative spark after a long year, and to give their writing skills a boost before school starts. Wherever they are at, we'll tailor the sessions to meet them where they are and guide them on the next step forward. School Programs While we loved (and are so grateful for) the online school programs we ran this year, we'd be lying if we said we weren't missing our schools! We have the capacity to add a couple more to our 2021 calendar - if you'd like to integrate creative writing as an ongoing opportunity for young writers at your school, please get in touch! We have several more exciting updates in the works, but we've got to save something for the new year, right? If you want to be the first to hear about them, make sure you subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on Instagram or Facebook! "In the distance, I could only see burning amber light." We couldn’t be here for our young writers without your support. If you love what we do, please consider helping us in any of these completely free, but incredibly valuable, ways:
No matter where we are, our young writers continue to inspire us (and make us laugh, cry, sit in awe, and reel from the epic grossness of their descriptions!). We're so proud of every one of them - this year more than ever - and we can't wait to see you all again in the new year!
