Creative Write-it is turning 10-years-old!
Ten years ago in December 2011, Amy Han ran a writing workshop at Doncaster Library. That was the beginning of Creative Write-it, and everything grew quickly, from workshops in libraries and schools to Amy teaching kids in her kitchen. For six years, Creative Write-it had a home in the studio in Sylvander Street in Balwyn North.
Although COVID-19 has been a disruption, it’s also shown us that the things that make Creative Write-it special are how we work with young writers, how we support and encourage them – it’s not always reliant on us being in the same room together. So after nearly 18 months of learning from change, we’re launching the next stage of our journey – the most exciting development in our ten years of working with young writers so far. On 10 January 2022, we’re launching the Young Writers Collective - an innovative online space where young writers anywhere can gather every week of the year to learn, write and share.
The key elements of who we are remain:
💥 Inspiration and personalised support for young writers
💥 Connection to other young writers who share their passion for creativity
💥 Exciting opportunities to share their work and be published
💥 The chance to work with and learn from professional writers and experienced mentors
