The two had almost reached the edge of the trees when Alyssa stopped.
We met Lily at our Teen Write-in in January 2020. She had chosen to write and publish a book for a school project, and was looking for a mentor to guide her through the process. She continued to refine her ideas, develop her story, and sharpen her voice through further Write-ins and a Mentorship program throughout the year. Through Covid restrictions and other school commitments, Lily demonstrated an inspiring commitment to her story, which she completed and published early this year.
"I just wanted to say thank you for all your help with my first ever writing project. I learned a lot about the creative process and how my brain works, as well as what should be included in a character. I presented my work to my class on the 11th of December 2020, and came back with a good grade. Here is the link so you can see what I have accomplished with your help. Thank you so much for being my mentor and an amazing person to be around. ️I couldn’t have done my project without you guys."
Congratulations Lily, and thank you for sharing your story with us! It was such a privilege to support you through this huge process. We look forward to reading more of your stories in the future!
