Welcome to Winter Wonderland!
Or is it?
Winter can truly be a magical time, with all those big coats, hot drinks and puddles to splash in! For others, winter is all teeth chattering and huddling hear a fire trying to keep warm. When the cold hits, we are always trying to find different ways to keep warm.
So, we have a little investigating for you to do (*gets out magnifying glass*)!
Create a list of things that help keep YOU warm. Is it a big old jumper? Having your pet snuggling nearby? Running laps of the hallway? What do you WISH you had to keep you warm (a smartwatch that can change the temperature around you wherever you are, perhaps)?
A 'Perfect Winter' Writing Prompt
What is the first thing that comes into your mind when you hear 'winter'? Is it snow? A fireplace? A blanket of colourful lights? What would a 'perfect winter' look like to you? Feel free to be as imaginative as you like!
Now, here is your chance to make this fantasy into a reality! First thing you need to do is grab a bit of A4 paper and draw your self up a snow globe (something like the one here). Inside of it, draw a scene of your perfect winter.
After this step, turn this picture into a descriptive paragraph. Here are some tips to help capture your Perfect Winter:
- What can you feel?
- What can you see?
- What can you taste?
- What can you hear?
- What can you smell?
Inspired? Take this exercise further by using this description as the beginning of a story. Introduce an unexpected event, and let us know what happens next...
We'd love to hear all about your Perfect Winters. Share your descriptive paragraphs with us in the comments!
