9 August is Book Lovers Day, a highly prestigious day in everyone's calendar. It will come as no surprise that we love books at Creative Write-it, and our studio housed hundreds in our awesome bookshelves. We'd love to show you, but since we are all at home we'll just have to show you our bookshelves!
We asked our Workshop Leaders to share pictures of their bookshelves and something they love about them.
Read on to discover five things we love about our personal bookshelves.
Get Organised!

"I like to group my books together, so when I feel like reading YA fantasy, for example, I know which shelf to go to! There's something calming about a nicely organised bookshelf." - Amy

Some organise by height, some by colour or author. How ever you do it, organising your books helps you grab the book you want, when you want it!
Feel Alive

"I like my bookshelf to be a little chaotic, bending in the middle, no straight lines. I'm a big fan of lending and borrowing, so my shelf grows and changes constantly." - Tamara

A goodshelf is a used bookshelf! Read, lend, buy, and borrow; your bookshelf will evolve as the colours and shapes of your books change.
Keep Safe

My shelves house an odd collection of books and knick-knacks. Seeing them brings warm memories." - Atorina

It's great to have tangible reminders of the important moments of our lives, and what better way to keep these knick-knacks safe than to house them with your cherished books?
Stay Inspired

"The books on my shelf are an odd assortment of non fiction, fiction and picture books which have inspired me and/or have made me think about the world in a different way." - Feiya

Inspiration comes from many sources, but it helps to keep some of those sources handy! Bookshelves give you many worlds of inspiration you can hold in your hands.
Be Practical

"Bookshelves have lots of nice flat surfaces that you can put other stuff on! It's really handy. I like to give house pants, artwork, and knick-knacks a nice place to live next to my books. I keep my wallet and keys on there, too!" - Ben

Bookshelves make your lounge, office, bedroom or studio feel like warm, lived-in spaces. They look pretty good, too!
We want to know what you love about your bookshelf. Tell us in the comments below!

We acknowledge that we live, write, and share stories on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations, the original storytellers of our country.

We vow to use our creative power to contribute to the land that has given us the freedom to imagine, dream, listen, and write a better collective future.

We pay our deep respects to elders past, present and emerging.
