Centering young writers

& their stories.

Hi, I’m Amy.

I’m the founder and CEoS (Chief Explorer of Stories) here at Creative Write-it, and I’m so happy you’ve stumbled upon us and our studio. We’re all writers ourselves, and we love working with young people to help them discover their stories and become better writers.

Why write with us?

Our mentoring style is light-hearted, fun, and empathetic. We genuinely enjoy getting to know each young writer: what excites them, what challenges them, how they learn, and what they have to say.

As writers, we have an intuitive understanding of what makes ‘good writing’, and can break this down in a way that is clear, engaging, and just challenging enough to keep them wanting to write more and more!

We could spend all day writing freely - going wherever our imaginations lead us. But we also know that writing is a practical skill that will help us through our school years and more importantly, throughout life! We balance creative freedom and writing techniques to help young writers become amazing storytellers - and even published authors.

But really, why us?

We’ve been teaching creative writing to young people for over a decade - and our collective experience as writers, creatives, and teachers is much longer than that!

Our past students have become published authors, won prizes and scholarships, been selected for the exclusive Victorian College of the Arts, sold books overseas, and even grown up to join our team and inspire younger writers.

Our workshops have turned reluctant writers into kids who can’t wait to get back to their writing books. The boost in their confidence is reflected on their report cards, but most importantly in how excited they are to realise that, yes! They can write. They are creative. And they have wonderful stories to share.

We welcome ALL young writers from age 7 - 17 for a trial - no matter what ‘level’ they are when we meet. If we don’t feel we are the best people to inspire and support them, we will tell you and do our best to recommend another mentor.

Finally, I know I’ve already said this but it’s important: we are writers! We have been kid writers and teen writers. We are novelists, short story writers, journalists, poets, scriptwriters, comic artists, bloggers, copywriters, editors, and more. We love what we do, and believe me - this kind of energy sticks like glitter!

I started Creative Write-it because it is exactly the place I wished for when I was a kid. Now it exists. And we would love to be a part of your young writer’s journey!
