Creative Write-it was founded in 2011 by local author Amy Han, who was looking for a way to help others by combining her passion for writing and love of working with young people.
Inspired by the enthusiastic child writer she used to be, and the creative writing courses she attended at university, Amy developed programs to encourage young writers of all levels to have fun with writing, stretching their imaginations while developing practical skills in storytelling, confidence, and self-expression.
What began as one monthly workshop at her local library soon grew to include weekly workshops at local primary schools, private mentorships, school holiday programs, and school visits across Victoria. In 2014, she gathered a small team of equally passionate, professional writers, and opened the first Creative Write-it studio in Balwyn North.
In 2016, Amy joined forces with fellow writer Dan Nixon to open the second studio in Fitzroy North, expanding our reach and making our programs accessible to more young writers, their families, and their schools. Amy and Dan now work together to direct the future of Creative Write-it.
