Estaban
by Josia In the nicest, loveliest, most friendly part of the forest lived a monkey called Estaban. He was always trying to stop people wasting paper. One day, he saw a young boy named Josia skipping pages in his writing book. The monkey said, “Stop wasting paper!” “Noooooo! It's opposite day,” said Josia. “It’s not," said Estaban the monkey. “It is," said Josia. “It’s not," said Estaban. “It is," said Josia. “Meet me at the boxing club." “Please come and watch the battle!” Estaban said to his parents. “Ok, we will watch you”, said his parents. “What day is the battle on?” Josia’s little sister asked. “It’s on LASER SUNDAY,” said Josia. “I'll see you at two o’clock.” “Why at two o’clock?” asked his little sister. “Never mind. Talk later on the day. Bye-bye!” said Josia. It was LASER SUNDAY. It was battle time. The crowd cheered. “3, 2, 1...battle time!” said the umpire. Estaban punched, Josia dodged. Josia punched, Estaban dodged. They both punched and they both dodged until Estaban the monkey was on the ground for three seconds. The umpire held up Josia's arm. Estaban died soon after. “I win! I win! I can start wasting paper again!” said Josia. From 'Writ Bits: the 2015 Creative Write-it Anthology,' available soon online and in our studio.
