By Adrian, Year 4 Last Friday, I woke up in the middle of the night to dreadful moaning and grumbling sounds. I was horrified to see that my wardrobe was rocking from side to side and a strange light was shining through the cracks between the doors. With great fear… I opened the doors and it was Wonderland. There was a rainbow sky, running unicorns, an Anything You Can Eat Candy Shop, and ice cream trees that had different ice cream flavours.
I grabbed some rainbow ice cream and a unicorn ran to me, so I jumped on the unicorn and said, ‘Fly unicorn, to the sky!’ I ate the fairy floss clouds. Then a Cupid came out of nowhere and shot my unicorn! It fell in love with another unicorn and dropped me. As I was falling, I remembered that I still had rainbow ice cream leftover in my pocket and a different unicorn appeared from the east and picked me up. After ten minutes, I said, ‘Drop me, unicorn!’ and I fell into an ice cream tree. I ate my way through the ice cream and found a door. I was sticky and cold, and ice cream was dripping from my clothes. When I entered the door, my clothes were dry and I wasn’t sticky at all. I closed my wardrobe doors and locked them with my giant pencil. There were no more weird sounds and bright colours coming from the wardrobe, so I went to bed. Until last night…

Once there was a little girl called Crystal. She lived in a cosy little cottage, high up in the snowy mountains. When she had time, Crystal used to walk down to the village harbour and sit on the benches to watch the boats sail out to sea. Below her she could see the village of Waves. It was spring and everybody was spring cleaning. Crystal stared at the village harbour. Her father was the village fisherman and Crystal had wanted to get her own ship ever since she was little. Her mother had asked her one thousand times why she wanted a ship and Crystal always replied she wanted to be warmer and go for adventures in the lost islands. One morning it was bright and sunny so Crystal decided to down to the village and buy a ship. Crystal had enough money to buy her own ship because she had been helping out at the grocery shop to sell groceries and she had earned quite a lot of money. Crystal bought a large ship with humongous sails. As she set sail, she saw a gigantic shadow looming over her. It was a pirate ship! Crystal panicked! She found herself being hoisted off her ship’s deck onto a much larger deck. The pirates made Crystal cook the most complicated dishes with rare ingredients such as giant mussels, dolphin prawns and deep sea mud. The pirates were also mean to Crystal, she was only allowed to eat bread and water and was often hungry. As Crystal cooked, she began thinking about how she would escape. Suddenly she had a good idea. She could set the kitchen on fire while the pirates were eating dinner. So that night, when the pirates ate their dinner, she tried out her plan. She tried to turn on the oven and burn the ship but it didn’t work because the gas had been turned off. Then Crystal thought of a different idea. The pirates had gone to bed and she could use dynamite barrels to blast them away! Crystal gathered all the dynamite barrels from the cellar of the ship, hopped into her boat set the dynamite on fire and…. BOOM!!! She escaped the sinking ship just in time. Crystal sailed back to her town and arrived safely at her house. She enjoyed her voyage so much that she decided she would take her mother for a ride and they could have more adventures together! I had one cup of tea, peppermint flavour. ‘That cup of tea was delicious. Can I have another cup of tea?’ I asked. 'No!' shouted my mum. So I went to put on my thermal underwear, but then I got attacked by a cup of tea! ‘Aaaarrrggghh!’ I screamed. ‘I just wanted to put on my thermal underwear and go to bed!’ I staggered away. The cup of tea said, ‘I’ll let you go on one condition: you let me eat you first.’ ‘No way!’ I shouted. ‘Fine then,’ the cup of tea said. ‘I’ll just eat you.’ By Olivia, Year 1
One day I was sleeping and I woke up in the morning. Normally my bed is blue and now it was grey. I had no idea what happened. I thought my eyes were lying. On the news it said somebody stole every bit of blue … I was very scared. Luckily I had a crazy dream the night before that I sucked up all of the blue into a giant vacuum because it all looked so yummy I wanted to keep it all for myself. The next night, I had another crazy dream that I realised I did the wrong thing and put all the blue back. When I woke up everything was ok. By Jerry Yu, Year 4
Once there was a really sad lady named Lisa. During the school holidays she wanted to go to the zoo but the zoo was closed. Then she had a great idea. She could go to the sea to see a hammer head shark. Lisa really wanted to see a hammer head shark that was free because it would have more space to swim in. Lisa went to the train station because she lived really far from the beach. It took three hours to get to the beach so she brought some food and some water to drink. On the train Lisa saw a poster for a movie about an atomic bomb, and the cinemas were super close to the beach. When Lisa got there, she went to the cinema, bought some chicken flavoured popcorn to eat, and then bought a ticket. She sat down quietly to watch the movie. The movie was about a giant atomic bomb and it was about to explode…… After the movie, Lisa hadn’t finished eating the popcorn so she put it in her bag because she didn’t want to waste a perfect bag of popcorn. When she got to the beach she started to search for a hammer head shark. After an hour she finally found one, but it was a bit boring because all the hammer head sharks did was eat, eat, eat, and sleep. After a long, long, time, Lisa went home. She had a brilliant time watching the movie but it was a bit boring watching the hammer head shark. By Chloe, Year 2

One day, Captain Woody decided to go to a dry, sandy island where there was a wooden box full of gold and gems. Captain Woody had a pet parrot called Spiky. He was three and a half. Captain Woody's ship was called The Wooden Ship, and he had twenty shipmates. One of his shipmates was called George. His job was making sure everyone was doing their job while Captain Woody steered the ship. As they set off, Spiky looked for the little island. It was very hard to see because the sky was foggy and icy. Suddenly they hit something round. It was the little island! They hopped off the huge ship and saw the treasure sitting beside a tree. Just as Captain Woody was about to pick it up, a little green, scaly dragon swooped down and took the treasure! He flew away before Captain Woody could catch him. Captain Woody was furious! "Come back with my treasure!!!!" he shouted, but the dragon didn't come back. Captain Woody jumped on his ship and shouted "Get him!!!!" They quickly sailed across the sea, following the dragon. It was hard following the dragon because he was small, as fast as lightning, and the sky was still foggy. After a while, they were lost. There was no sign of the dragon. Captain Woody said to his shipmates, "Quick, think of a way to find the dragon!" All twenty shipmates thought of a way to catch the dragon, but none of their ideas worked. Suddenly, George had one more idea: when the dragon came back, they could throw a rope around it so that wherever it went, it would bring the whole ship to the dragon's dark gloomy cave. When they saw the dragon, they quickly threw a rope at it and the plan worked! The little dragon didn't realise that he was tangled in a rope so he kept going. When he reached his cave, ten of the shipmates snuck inside. The dragon placed the treasure on a big giant rock and went to bed. While the dragon was sleeping, one of the shipmates got the treasure and went back to the ship. They sailed home and shared all of the treasures. Each received five gems and one hundred bars of gold. They were very happy. By Chris, Year 6
Once upon a time, there was a wild monkey called Chris that loved eating. One day he didn’t want to eat fruit any more so he decided to find something else to eat. But his friend Sam said, “Don’t be silly. Monkeys only eat fruit.” Chris wasn’t listening so he went to the city. He smelled something really good and really yummy, so he followed the smell until he reached a shop with a sign that said, “Pizza.” He tasted a bit of that thing which smelled really good. Then he heard that the thing was called 'pizza'. The next day he called Sam to come with him to the city to see and taste pizza. Sam also loved pizza, so they decided to make a pizza by themselves. They waited until the owner left, then got to work. They made a pizza that tasted really good. They decided to make another pizza the next day. But the shop owner saw them. Chris and Sam got such a fright that they jumped right up to the roof! “Come here, little monkeys,” the owner said. “I won’t hurt you. Come, if you wanted pizza you only had to ask.” Chris and Sam slowly climbed back down. They shared a pizza with the owner, whose name was Jack, and then Jack asked if they wanted a pizza oven and a pizza base. Chris and Sam were so excited they borrowed Jack’s phone and called 50 extra monkeys to help carry the things home. Back home, they made a pizza by covering the base with bananas, strawberries and pineapple (these were the only ingredients they had). Unsurprisingly, their pizza tasted just like fruit. It wasn’t quite new food, but Chris still liked it very much. By Alannah, Prep
Once upon a time there was a firefly and her name was Fly-Fly. She lived in the jungle under a giant pizza. How was there a pizza in this jungle? It was a PIZZA JUNGLE. One day, Fly-Fly decided to go fishing because she didn’t have anything to eat (even though she lived in a pizza jungle, fireflies can’t eat pizza.) Unfortunately, the only fishing rod she could find was rusty. Luckily, she found a small net. Fly-Fly didn’t think it could hold many fish, but then she discovered that the net could be unfolded into a huge net! She caught three big fish. ‘Who will I share this yummy dinner with?’ Fly-Fly thought. ‘I can’t eat this all by myself!’ Just then, she made a friend. A wild but friendly bear appeared out of the water and helped her to lift the fish out of the net and carry them back to her pizza home for dinner. Prompts: wild, fireflies, rusted, pizzas, net |
