The Day the Blue Disappeared

By Olivia, Year 1
One day I was sleeping and I woke up in the morning. Normally my bed is blue and now it was grey. I had no idea what happened. I thought my eyes were lying.

On the news it said somebody stole every bit of blue … I was very scared.

Luckily I had a crazy dream the night before that I sucked up all of the blue into a giant vacuum because it all looked so yummy I wanted to keep it all for myself.

The next night, I had another crazy dream that I realised I did the wrong thing and put all the blue back.

When I woke up everything was ok.

Once there was a really sad lady named Lisa

By Jerry Yu, Year 4

Once there was a really sad lady named Lisa. During the school holidays she wanted to go to the zoo but the zoo was closed. Then she had a great idea. She could go to the sea to see a hammer head shark. Lisa really wanted to see a hammer head shark that was free because it would have more space to swim in.

Lisa went to the train station because she lived really far from the beach. It took three hours to get to the beach so she brought some food and some water to drink.

On the train Lisa saw a poster for a movie about an atomic bomb, and the cinemas were super close to the beach. When Lisa got there, she went to the cinema, bought some chicken flavoured popcorn to eat, and then bought a ticket.

She sat down quietly to watch the movie. The movie was about a giant atomic bomb and it was about to explode……

After the movie, Lisa hadn’t finished eating the popcorn so she put it in her bag because she didn’t want to waste a perfect bag of popcorn. When she got to the beach she started to search for a hammer head shark. After an hour she finally found one, but it was a bit boring because all the hammer head sharks did was eat, eat, eat, and sleep.

After a long, long, time, Lisa went home. She had a brilliant time watching the movie but it was a bit boring watching the hammer head shark.

By Chloe, Year 2

Once upon a time in a dark gloomy cave, there lived a big scary monster. He had red glowing eyes and purple spikes on his back.

One evening, the monster felt hungry. His tummy was rumbling and his mouth was watering, so he decided to ask his mum for something to eat. The problem was, his mum was at work! He tried to yell to his mum, but it was no use. The monster had to think of a way to stop his tummy rumbling and his mouth watering! The monster thought and thought, but the more he thought the hungrier he felt! The monster thought all evening until he thought of an idea.

He thought his idea was brilliant! In fact he started his project straight away. He wouldn't go to the shops because he was too lazy. He would build a food machine. He couldn't wait till he finished his machine that would give him anything he wanted.

First he had to draw a plan of what it would look like. After that he got some screws, nails and a hammer and started building. It took hours until it was finished. At last the machine was finished and the monster could eat. He was very, very happy.

By Raynee, Year 2

Once upon a time there was a sleepy zoo keeper. His eyes were blue, he was bald and handsome. His name was Kieron. He was very sleepy because he was at a 30th anniversary party and he was bored. He just stood in the corner eating chips to stay awake.

After the party he went to bed. Even though the party had been boring, he was very sad that the party was over because it meant no more chips! So he went to sleep at 9pm.

In the middle of the night, Kieron started sleepwalking. Soon he was at the Jelly Bean Factory! When he woke up, he realised he was not in his bed. He said to himself in his head, ‘How can I be in a Jelly Bean Factory?’ He thought a little bit. ‘Maybe I was sleep walking?’

Suddenly, he heard a sound. It sounded like tick-tock-tick-tock-tick-tock. Kieron tried to find where the sound was coming from. He went upstairs and saw an object that was as big as a sausage dog. It was black and hard, but empty inside. Kieron said, ‘It’s a ticking time bomb!!!!!!’

The time on the ticking time bomb was two hours and one second. Kieron spent nearly two hours trying to find an exit. He went upstairs and downstairs and up and down again. The time was nearly up. Finally he found the exit and ran through it, just as the factory exploded! Jellybeans were flying everywhere.

Kieron collected some jellybeans and went home to the zoo.

Captain Woody and the Green Dragon

By Chloe, Year 2

One day, Captain Woody decided to go to a dry, sandy island where there was a wooden box full of gold and gems.  Captain Woody had a pet parrot called Spiky. He was three and a half. Captain Woody's ship was called The Wooden Ship, and he had twenty shipmates. One of his shipmates was called George. His job was making sure everyone was doing their job while Captain Woody steered the ship. As they set off, Spiky looked for the little island. It was very hard to see because the sky was foggy and icy.

Suddenly they hit something round. It was the little island! They hopped off the huge ship and saw the treasure sitting beside a tree. Just as Captain Woody was about to pick it up, a little green, scaly dragon swooped down and took the treasure! He flew away before Captain Woody could catch him. Captain Woody was furious!

"Come back with my treasure!!!!" he shouted, but the dragon didn't come back. Captain Woody jumped on his ship and shouted "Get him!!!!" They quickly sailed across the sea, following the dragon. It was hard following the dragon because he was small, as fast as lightning, and the sky was still foggy. After a while, they were lost. There was no sign of the dragon. Captain Woody said to his shipmates, "Quick, think of a way to find the dragon!"

All twenty shipmates thought of a way to catch the dragon, but none of their ideas worked. Suddenly, George had one more idea: when the dragon came back, they could throw a rope around it so that wherever it went, it would bring the whole ship to the dragon's dark gloomy cave.  When they saw the dragon, they quickly threw a rope at it and the plan worked!

The little dragon didn't realise that he was tangled in a rope so he kept going. When he reached his cave, ten of the shipmates snuck inside. The dragon placed the treasure on a big giant rock and went to bed. While the dragon was sleeping, one of the shipmates got the treasure and went back to the ship. They sailed home and shared all of the treasures. Each received five gems and one hundred bars of gold. They were very happy.

The Ginormous Jellybean

By Jarrod, Chloe, Mischa and Jessica

Lolly Inspector Jarrod was standing in front of a ginormous jellybean. The jellybean was full of everything that is sweet, like soft drinks, ice-cream, lollies and bubblegum. It looked as big as a city. The factory it came from looked like a shop full of sweet stuff. Inspector Jarrod needed to check the jellybean in case it had germs. He tasted it, and decided it was ready to go into the shop. Jarrod wanted to eat the whole jellybean because he was always hungry, but that day he wasn’t going to eat it because he was controlling himself. When Lolly Inspector Jarrod had finished inspecting the big jellybean he went to another room and filled up his drink bottle with water. It’s thirsty work inspecting lollies.

Mischa was hiding behind a long, thick pole. She was spying on Lolly Inspector Jarrod. He was ticking his checklist. After he left she went to the big jellybean, which had ice cream and lollipops sticking out of it. She thought it looked very yummy! Just when she was about to steal it Police Detective Chloe arrived.

“Oh no!” said Mischa as she quickly hid behind the same pole. Then Chloe left the jellybean alone. “Phew!” said Mischa. She really wanted the jelly bean because she had no money to buy food. She had spent all her money on a new house because there was an earthquake. She went out again and picked up the huge jellybean but then Chloe saw her and chased her home. Luckily Mischa escaped with the jellybean!

Police Detective Chloe secretly wanted to eat the ginormous jellybean that the factory had made. She was visiting the lolly factory because it was Lolly Day. When she reached the factory it smelled like delicious ice cream with chocolate cookies. She walked around the lolly factory, and that's when she saw Mischa trying to steal the giant jellybean. She tried to catch her but Mischa was too quick. Chloe had to get the jelly bean back so she could eat it all up!

When Chloe reached Mischa’s house she saw the giant jelly bean. It looked like a rainbow that was jelly-bean-shaped. Inside the jelly bean was ice cream and chocolate chips. Chloe had to get it back.

Suddenly, the lolly maker saw Mischa and Chloe and said “Give it back now!” They gave it back and the lolly maker said they weren’t allowed to visit the factory any more. Mischa was arrested and had to see the judge.

The courtroom was a big room with a big brown door. It had a very high chair for the judge and there was a table for sandwiches. It was very dark. The judge was very lazy. She told Mischa, "You stole the giant jellybean. I saw it on the security camera."
"I didn't do it!" Mischa argued. She had come to court in a disguise, but the the judge could tell it was Mischa because she could still see her glasses. They were small and quite orange, with a touch of white.

The judge called Police Detective Chloe. However, it was not to take Mischa away, it was to get the judge’s sandwich.
The judge said, “You watch Mischa. I will finish my sandwich while you do that.”
So Chloe walked over to Mischa. The judge ate very slowly because she did not want to do anything. The judge ate until 7 pm. She ate for five hours.
"Are you finished yet?" Police Detective Chloe asked.
“Get me my craft set,” said the judge.
“Why?”
“Just get it. It does NOT matter why. So just get it.”
“Get it yourself, it’s right behind you!” Chloe said.
“Then YOU take Mischa away!” the judge shouted.
“Ok,” Chloe  agreed.

The judge turned around and got her craft set. She started making a jelly bean. A giant one. It was so big she got bored before she finished making it, so she put it away in her cupboard and went to bed. It was almost midnight.

The very next day, the judge woke up at 4am and quickly finished making the jelly bean. At 6am she was done. Perfect timing.

Back in court, the judge told Chloe to wake up. Mischa was still there.
“Not yet,” Chloe whispered, “I’m still tired.”
“No! You must take Mischa away now!” said the judge. She put the fake jelly bean on the table and told Mischa to get it. Mischa leapt on it and took a bite. She said that it wasn’t the jelly bean that she stole.
But the judge still said, “I sentence you to go to jail! For a month!”
“Ok,” said Mischa.

The Monkeys That Eat Pizza

6/6/2015

By Chris, Year 6

Once upon a time, there was a wild monkey called Chris that loved eating. One day he didn’t want to eat fruit any more so he decided to find something else to eat. But his friend Sam said, “Don’t be silly. Monkeys only eat fruit.”

Chris wasn’t listening so he went to the city. He smelled something really good and really yummy, so he followed the smell until he reached a shop with a sign that said, “Pizza.” He tasted a bit of that thing which smelled really good. Then he heard that the thing was called 'pizza'.

The next day he called Sam to come with him to the city to see and taste pizza. Sam also loved pizza, so they decided to make a pizza by themselves. They waited until the owner left, then got to work. They made a pizza that tasted really good.

They decided to make another pizza the next day. But the shop owner saw them. Chris and Sam got such a fright that they jumped right up to the roof!
“Come here, little monkeys,” the owner said. “I won’t hurt you. Come, if you wanted pizza you only had to ask.”

Chris and Sam slowly climbed back down. They shared a pizza with the owner, whose name was Jack, and then Jack asked if they wanted a pizza oven and a pizza base. Chris and Sam were so excited they borrowed Jack’s phone and called 50 extra monkeys to help carry the things home.

Back home, they made a pizza by covering the base with bananas, strawberries and pineapple (these were the only ingredients they had). Unsurprisingly, their pizza tasted just like fruit. It wasn’t quite new food, but Chris still liked it very much.

Fly-Fly and the Secret Bear

By Alannah, Prep

Once upon a time there was a firefly and her name was Fly-Fly. She lived in the jungle under a giant pizza. How was there a pizza in this jungle? It was a PIZZA JUNGLE.

One day, Fly-Fly decided to go fishing because she didn’t have anything to eat (even though she lived in a pizza jungle, fireflies can’t eat pizza.)

Unfortunately, the only fishing rod she could find was rusty.

Luckily, she found a small net. Fly-Fly didn’t think it could hold many fish, but then she discovered that the net could be unfolded into a huge net! She caught three big fish.

‘Who will I share this yummy dinner with?’ Fly-Fly thought. ‘I can’t eat this all by myself!’

Just then, she made a friend. A wild but friendly bear appeared out of the water and helped her to lift the fish out of the net and carry them back to her pizza home for dinner.

Prompts: wild, fireflies, rusted, pizzas, net
