Captain Woody and the Green Dragon

By Chloe, Year 2

One day, Captain Woody decided to go to a dry, sandy island where there was a wooden box full of gold and gems.  Captain Woody had a pet parrot called Spiky. He was three and a half. Captain Woody's ship was called The Wooden Ship, and he had twenty shipmates. One of his shipmates was called George. His job was making sure everyone was doing their job while Captain Woody steered the ship. As they set off, Spiky looked for the little island. It was very hard to see because the sky was foggy and icy.

Suddenly they hit something round. It was the little island! They hopped off the huge ship and saw the treasure sitting beside a tree. Just as Captain Woody was about to pick it up, a little green, scaly dragon swooped down and took the treasure! He flew away before Captain Woody could catch him. Captain Woody was furious!

"Come back with my treasure!!!!" he shouted, but the dragon didn't come back. Captain Woody jumped on his ship and shouted "Get him!!!!" They quickly sailed across the sea, following the dragon. It was hard following the dragon because he was small, as fast as lightning, and the sky was still foggy. After a while, they were lost. There was no sign of the dragon. Captain Woody said to his shipmates, "Quick, think of a way to find the dragon!"

All twenty shipmates thought of a way to catch the dragon, but none of their ideas worked. Suddenly, George had one more idea: when the dragon came back, they could throw a rope around it so that wherever it went, it would bring the whole ship to the dragon's dark gloomy cave.  When they saw the dragon, they quickly threw a rope at it and the plan worked!

The little dragon didn't realise that he was tangled in a rope so he kept going. When he reached his cave, ten of the shipmates snuck inside. The dragon placed the treasure on a big giant rock and went to bed. While the dragon was sleeping, one of the shipmates got the treasure and went back to the ship. They sailed home and shared all of the treasures. Each received five gems and one hundred bars of gold. They were very happy.
