Wednesday 10 April - NAPLAN Preparation Series: Get Creative!
Suitable for Years 2 - 6
Do you ever look at a topic and have NO IDEAS? Or no INTERESTING or EXCITING ideas? Let’s face that writers’ block together! In this workshop, we'll explore a variety of common creative writing topic formats and how to turn them into unique and interesting narratives.
Focus: creative writing techniques, idea exploration, focussed writing skills

Thursday 11 April - NAPLAN Preparation Series: Get Persuasive!
Suitable for Years 2 - 6
What’s the difference between a persuasive piece that simply agrees or disagrees, and one that really shows you’ve thought about the topic? This workshop will include a refresher on basic persuasive writing structure and go-to techniques, as well as some handy tips for lifting your writing from kinda-persuasive to, “You’ve convinced me, writer!”
Focus: persuasive writing techniques, well-rounded arguments, focussed writing skills

Thursday 11 April - NAPLAN Preparation Series: Focus Pocus!
Suitable for Years 2 - 6
What style of writing do you need more practice with? This day is all about focussing on what YOU need to focus on, and discovering that little bit of magic dust you need to make your writing even better. We’ll have plenty of sample topics to choose from, and a practical assessment sheet so you’ll know exactly what to do next time your writing skills are called for!
Focus: time to practice, individual feedback sessions

Tuesday 9 April - Story Imagineers - take off!
Suitable for Years Prep - 2
Are you ready to dream big? Today is all about finding inspiration in existing stories, and learning basic storytelling techniques to write an original story of your own! Best of all, each young writer will go home with a handmade picture book to share at the end of the day.
Focus: introduction to story structure, idea creation and development

Tuesday 16 April - Creative Writing Workshop: Ready, Set, Go!
Suitable for Years 1 - 3
This workshop will encourage writers to set their imaginations free! Learn to start and complete first drafts without overthinking, and avoid getting stuck with a blank page.
Focus: where ideas come from, freewriting, first drafts

Wednesday 17 April - Creative Writing Workshop: It’s all in the Detail!
Suitable for Years 1 - 3
Now that you have a story (or stories!), what details can you add to make it even stronger? This workshop will encourage writers to explore character, setting, and action and how to write these in more interesting and descriptive ways.
Focus: detail and description, development of ideas

Thursday 18 April - Story Development Masterclass
Suitable for Years 4 - 6
Go through all the key elements of great storytelling, including character, structure and theme. In just one day, you will develop a complete short story, with time at the end of the day for editing.
Focus: introduction to story structure, idea creation and development

Time: 10am - 3pm

All writing and craft materials included.
Parents are invited to join us from 2.45pm each day for optional readings from the day.
Please bring along a drink bottle, snack, lunch (no eggs or nuts please) ... and your imagination!
